Charles Babbage was born on the 26th of december 1791-October 18th 1871. At 8 years old, he Was sent to the countryside at alphinhgton near exeter for schooling to help him recover from a fever that had nearly ended his life. Babbage began his studies at trinity college, Cambridge in 1812 where he was the top mathematucuan. He graduated two years later in 1814. Babbage became a lectur ate the royal Institution where he Lecutured about astronomy. In 1816, He was elelcted a fellow of the Royal Society. In 1820 Babbage helped found the Astronomical Society and in 1824, he won the gold medal " For his invention of an engine for calculating mathematical and astronomical tables". He was instrumental in founding the Royal Astronomical (1820) and Statistical (1834) societies The idea of mechanically calculating mathematical tables first came to Babbage in 1812 or 1813. Later he made a small Calculator that could perform Certain Mathematical Computations to eight decimals
